MONSE
SPRING 2022
Kickflip through Chelsea Piers Skatepark with MONSE, an NYC-based luxury fashion label brought to life by the forces of Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia, the Creative Directors of Oscar de la Renta. Following their collaborative runway show with the cast of the new Gossip Girl reboot, MONSE introduced a new avenue of fashion for the Spring/Summer 2022 season. Drawing from deconstructed silhouettes and structured menswear, MONSE elevates what it means to be a modern woman. Read on to discover how this label is looking to ring in spring with Resort 2022.
Accompanied by an upbeat, electronic soundtrack, this runway show was like no other. Posted up by the top of the ramp was a chic skater staring off on their skateboard, enjoying the show just as much as the audience was. Models strutted up and down the ramps of the skatepark, sporting eccentric colorblock knitwear and natural floral patterns. Exposed shoulders contrasted the thick textiles on both dresses and outerwear; asymmetry is the new in with MONSE as unique cutouts introduced the label’s unique take on shapewear.
The show wrapped up with the final look of the afternoon—a hyperfeminine silhouette of a black dress with unique cutouts that elevate the look of traditional lace. Don’t be fooled by the delicate intricacies of MONSE’s upscale dresses as each piece was accompanied by chunky sneakers--after all, it’s a skatepark, and sporting MONSE means sporting what it means to be unapologetically you.
All bases were covered with both womenswear and unisex pieces that accentuated the human form at its finest. Thin silks coupled with intricate knitwear created silhouettes familiar to many, and anyone wearing MONSE this season is bound to catch eyes anywhere they go. With an audience scattered with high-profile figures like Paris Hilton, Liza Koshy, Alex Cooper and more, MONSE’s spring collection is not one you want to miss, whether you’re landing bolts at the park or strutting down the streets of the city.
