Growing up as a major tomboy, Anya Taylor-Joy would have never suspected she’d be exposed to the glamour of the fashion industry. At age 16, Anya Taylor-Joy began to pursue an acting career and was introduced to the power of fashion education. The actress has proclaimed this fashion education as one of the major channels in steering her from her shy self by providing a whole other medium for expression, fun, and enjoyment. Stunning the fashion and entertainment world at the “Last Night in Soho” Los Angeles Premiere once again, Taylor-Joy stepped out in a captivating, metallic gold Dior gown on October 25th, 2021—the same day she was named Dior's new global brand ambassador. Joining the forces of famous celebrities like Chinese actress Angelababy, Blackpink’s Kim Jisoo, and singer and Fenty Beauty’s Rihanna, Taylor-Joy furthers the legacy of Dior for both women’s fashion and makeup (overseen by Maria Grazia Chiuri and Peter Philips respectively).
Beginning with her first appearance in Dior at the 2021 Golden Globes Awards, Taylor-Joy wowed the world with a deep emerald green dress (custom made by Chiuri), complemented by a soft smoky eye and just-bitten lip (courtesy of Philips) (Weinstock). From there, she donned three more iconic Dior looks: a Grecian goddess gown and matching shimmering lid at the Dior Cruise 2022 show, a canary yellow shawl and bold red lip at the 2021 Emmy’s, and a shocking pink number and muted glam beauty look at the Venice Film Festival (Weinstock). Completing the ensemble this Monday, Anya Taylor-Joy’s metallic gold Dior dress signified both the continuation of her relationship with Dior and the beginning of a new era of what she will bring to the fashion world.
Famous “image architect” Law Roach has characterized Taylor-Joy’s style as “fearless with a touch of whimsy.” Roach elaborates that “he likes to style Taylor-Joy in pieces that have a “retro undertone to it” ” (Ilchi) as tribute to her notable Beth Harmon character in “The Queen’s Gambit.” Furthermore, Roach describes Taylor-Joy as “someone that doesn’t have any fear and loves fashion and loves to experiment” in which they were able to produce amazing outcomes that the world loves despite looks being curated just out them having fun. Roach and Taylor-Joy’s collaboration etched an important mark at the 2021 Golden Globes Awards when she stepped out in an emerald green Dior couture dress and matching coat. As a blossoming actress and fashion icon, Taylor-Joy’s newest position as Dior’s global brand ambassador brings exciting speculation of her impact and contribution to the fashion world.
